The field marshal web project

Tuesday, 9/25/01, 9:59 AM

As at June 28 2000 this site has been opened and shut on and off for over a year. We've got some sections done and other barely begun. To put it simply, its a great deal of work, and we (that is the owners) have lives beyond the internet. Is the fmmp dead? Nope. The plan is basically as follows. We'll assemble sections of the site as and when time allows . Then when all the content is completed we'll design an interface that's very quick to load and works on all respective browser platforms. When will it be done? When its done! There are some sections of the site that will continue to be operational, they are:  The 1962 India-China war  The Forums

world battlefields revisited

Thursday, 9/20/01, 2:40 AM

a number of battlefields, mostly of the more recent variety at present, have been photographed here as they are in the year 2001; the webmaster is a widely travelled mil hist fan and coverage includes Stalingrad, Khe Sanh, and Eben Emael. Will soon include battlefields in Finland and North Russia. Fans of 'battlefield walking' will also be interested in Donald Featherstone's book of the same title, available from public libraries in the UK. This covers numerous conflicts of all historical eras. 'Battles and Generals of the Civil Wars' does the same for the Great Rebellion of 1642-1666 in Britain.

Blood on the Grass

Monday, 9/3/01, 9:37 AM

http://britishbattles.homestead.com/ This site is designed for keen military historians, especially those who, when visiting a region of the globe, like to be aware of the conflicts which have been fought there over the centuries. It will however appeal to the child in all of us, who enjoys reading of momentous deeds in far-off and exotic places. It is not intended to glamourise war. It may even help towards answering the fundamental psychological question which arises in all study of war: why do they do it? This site is dedicated to my late father and to Messrs Donald Featherstone, Charles Grant and Tony Bath, not to forget the great H.G.Wells, who together introduced me at a tender age to the fascinating world of conflict and its recreation in miniature.

http://www.militaryheritage.com/7yrswar.htm The 7 years war was one of the first 'world wars' since substantial parts of the action took place in India, North America and elsewhere, as well as the European war which included all the then great powers of the continent. The foremost naval power, England, was allied to the foremost military strategist/tactician of the time, King Frederick the Great of Prussia.
